Nina Kelly

Nina is a planner at the Northeast Georgia Regional Commission, and enjoys commuting to her office by bus (and sometimes bike) whenever possible. Originally and proudly from Detroit, Michigan, she moved to Athens in late 2008 after graduate school with her husband and cat. Nina has a diverse background, having worked in varying capacities in race & gender relations, economic development, community food systems, and promotions before focusing primarily on transportation. She originally became involved with BikeAthens as a volunteer for the MLK, Jr. Day of Service, and is always seeking creative ways to support the organization's mission as a Board member.

Peter Norris

Peter has been a member of the board for 8 years
and has been treasurer and interim chair. He currently leads the Bicycle Recycling
Programs and helps with the website and print/press graphics. Peter is a Manager of Information Technology for the College of Education at UGA. He is also persuing a Master's degree in Environmental Economics. Peter has also
volunteered for BreastFest, Human Rights Festival, AthFest and is a member of the
Red Cross Disaster Action Team.

Claire Boozer
Claire has lived in Athens for almost 7 years and has worked as the Outreach Coordinator for the Athens Community Council on Aging since May of 2009. She oversees the marketing strategy for ACCA and directs grant writing and fundraising efforts. In addition, she is Editor of ACCENT, a quarterly newsletter that is sent out to over 3,000 people in Northeast Georgia. She also works part-time at Athens Regional Medical Center, volunteers at Iris Place Retirement Community and serves on the Steering Committee for the Athens-Area Memory Walk. Claire has an interest in board and program development, website development and grant writing and is excited to bring these interests to the BikeAthens organization.
Basil Campbell
Reviving discarded bicycles to donate to the community is a service that compliments Basil’s lifelong love of bicycles. Having recently retired from the IBM Corporation, Basil has been volunteering at the BikeAthens Bicycle Recycling Program for the past 5 years. Basil also has worked for Plenty International (http://www.plenty.org/) in the South Bronx and has managed the motor-pool for an intentional community called The Farm in Summertown TN (http://www.thefarmcommunity.com/).
Mike Ely
Mike is a financial analyst that telecommutes for a research firm based in Atlanta. He enjoys riding his bike as his main form of transportion around town. Mike moved to GA for grad school from the bicycling mecca of Portland OR and hopes that one day Athens will be as bike friendly as cities out west. He takes pride in bringing old bikes back to life and is one of the Bike Recycling Program coordinators.
Anna Gore
Anna moved to Athens in 2002, drawn here by the local culture and music. She currently teaches adult and kids trapeze classes at Canopy Studio, a local non-profit community arts center, and is pursuing her Masters Degree in Environmental Planning and Design at the University of Georgia. She has a background in audio/visual production technology and an interest in promoting alternative transportation and bike safety. Biking is her favorite and primary mode of transportation, but does use her scooter and the bus system on occasion. Anna is excited to bring her experience and interests to BikeAthens.
Amy Johnson
Amy moved to Athens 7 years ago originally to
complete her Master's Degree in Geography. She made
Athens her home due to its size and accessibility.
Formerly an environmental consultant, she now teaches
middle school Science locally. She also served on
the Steering Committee in charge of creating the
Community Agenda for Athens' 10-year Comprehensive
Land Use Plan.
Jason Perry
Jason is a mechanical engineer working on energy and water conservation projects in UGA's Engineering Outreach Service. He delights in his easy 7-minute bike commute from the Bloomfield neighborhood. Jason and his wife arrived in Athens in November 2007 after living in Edinburgh, Scotland for over two years. While there, he volunteered for The Bike Station, a non-profit bicycle recycling organization. He derives a great deal of pleasure from fixing up old bikes, and is happy to apply his experience and enthusiasm as one of the Bike Recycling Program coordinators.
Tim Pierce
Tim is a recent graduate of the UGA Landscape Architecture program,
and has been in Athens for the past 5 ½ years. In addition to serving
on the Bike Athens Board of Directors, Tim continues to serve on the
Board of Directors for P.L.A.C.E. (www.localplace.org), as he has done
for the past 4 years. Working with Ellison, the BikeAthens Admin, Tim
has also been responsible for the planning and operation of the Athens
Tour de Farm for the past two years. Tim has developed a passion for
cycling in all its forms, as well as a great interest in sustainable
planning practices within Athens-Clarke County.
Tracie Sanchez
Tracie Sanchez got her undergrad here back in the late 80s, sold her car, bought a bike, and left to change the world. She came back in 2003 and bought a home in Normaltown based on Athens' bikability and continues her 20-year lifestyle of bike commuting daily. There was a slight setback in the early 70s involving a bike, a banana seat, acrobatics and the family dog, but since then she has focused on safe cycling and chooses to make all vacations involve the bicycle. She is finishing her master’s in public policy and focusing on nonprofits and transportation policy.

Ellison is a graduate of UGA with a degree in Human Geography. She came to Athens from Decatur and quickly discovered the joys of commuting via bicycle, riding quickly down hills, touring the countryside, and informal local races. She and Tim Pierce planned and coordinated the 2009 Athens Tour de Farm, a 3 day, 100 mile bike ride to 7 small sustainable farms around Athens. She is deeply honored to be a part of BikeAthens.
