Biography: Dennis Creech
Executive Director of Southface
Mr.
Creech was a founder of the Southface
Energy Institute, a private nonprofit organization offering
education, research and technical assistance programs in energy,
sustainable technologies, and applied building sciences. He has
served as Executive Director for over 20 years.
He frequently writes and lectures on topics ranging from "green"
building design to affordable housing. His work has been featured
by national media ranging from Popular Science to CNN. He writes
the House Doctor column for the Atlanta Journal Constitution and
is a regular contributor to industry publications.
Mr. Creech has served on the board of directors of the Greater
Atlanta Home Builders Association, the Energy and Environmental
Building Association (EEBA), and several environmental organizations.
He was named Georgia Environmental Leader of the Year in 1999 and
serves on the Environmental and Community Task Force for the Georgia
Regional Transportation Authority.
In 1996, Mr. Creech directed a project to design and construct
the Southface Energy and Environmental Resource Center, a state-of-the-art
demonstration facility featuring over 100 energy and resource efficient
technologies. He served as the green building advisor for the formation
of the EarthCraft House program.
As Southface takes on the "greening" of more commercial
building efforts, he will lead the efforts for the Southface Eco
Office, a commercial demonstration to be built adjacent to the current
Southface Resource Center in midtown Atlanta.
