Williams Street Bike Lanes
Though it is wonderful to see bike lanes on Williams Street it
is unfortunate that their construction creates a difficult condition
for cyclist. While the well made lanes on Baxter provide a smooth
surface for the cylist, on Williams a different construction method
was used that creates a transition between the asphalt and the gutter
right in the middle of the bike lane. In some places the asphalt
is much higher than the gutter creating a hazardous lip that cyclists
must avoid. With not enough room to ride in the gutter next to the
curb, the safest option might be to favor the traffic side of the
bike lane.
