BikeAthens is best known for promoting bikes as a means of transportation, but we also advocate improving pedestrian conditions around town. This includes adding and improving sidewalks, adding crosswalks, and implementing traffic calming measures so roads are safer to cross.

A long-term focus for our organization has been to make Prince Avenue, a major in-town commercial and transportation corridor, safer for biking and crossing. Today Prince is designed for car access only, but one day we hope to see frequent pedestrian crosswalks linking businesses, neighborhoods, and churches.

Below is an illustration of frequent, visible crosswalks along Prince, accompanied by bike stencils and signs (Pulaski to Milledge).
